Banana Cinnamon Roll Cake

It's Sunday morning and your kitchen smells amazing because you made the most delicious banana cinnamon roll cake. The perfect bake for the weekend. Everyone will be happy!

Ingredients

Banana Cake

  • 2 1/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 3 Tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Mashed Banana
  • 6 Tbsp Melted Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk or a thick milk like lifeway kefir
  • 1/3 Cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Large Eggs

Cinnamon Sugar

  • 5 TBSP Melted Butter
  • 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8oz Unsalted Butter
  • 6oz Cream Cheese frosting
  • 3 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp Vanilla
  • Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease and line with parchment paper a 9x9 cake pan.
    2. Start by making your cinnamon sugar by adding all the ingredients for the cinnamon sugar together and set aside until your cake batter is ready.
    3. In a bowl sift flour,baking powder and salt.
    4. In a separate bowl mash your bananas. Next, add all of your wet ingredients to the mashed bananas.
    5. Add your dry ingredients to your wet ingredients and mix until combined.
    6. Add your batter to the pan and cover the top with the cinnamon sugar.
    7. With a butter knife or spoon gently mix the cinnamon sugar around so that it goes into and on top of the batter.
    8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out with just a bit of wet crumbs.
    9. Allow banana cake to cool .

    Cream Cheese Frosting
    1. Make sure your butter and cream cheese are room temperature.
    2. In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment beat your butter and cream cheese for 3-4 mins until light and fluffy
    3. Gradually mix in the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time. Mix in the vanilla.
    4. Scrape the sides and bottom of your mixing bowl as needed.
    5. Once you have added all your powdered sugar whip for 2-3 minutes until well incorporated and smooth.
    6. Frost the top of the cake and add chopped bananas and nuts!
